First for Stoves and Outdoor Cooking in Cheshire
For almost two decades, Fires of Holmes Chapel (formerly Stove Yard Cheshire) has been helping homeowners across the North West discover the right heating and cooking solutions for their homes. What began with a strong focus on wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves has grown into a broader offering that includes gas and electric fires, outdoor cooking and heating, and complete fireplace installations.
Our Holmes Chapel showroom is designed to be experienced, not just viewed. With more than 80 stoves and fires on display — including over 20 live-burning models — you can see the flames, feel the heat, and explore how different styles, fuels and layouts could transform your space.
A considered evolution
The transition to Fires of Holmes Chapel reflects the way the business has evolved. While our roots are firmly grounded in stoves, today we offer a much wider range of fires, fuels and fireplace solutions. What hasn’t changed is our team, our knowledge, or our commitment to providing honest, expert advice.
Led by owner Russell Clarke, a former chef with a lifelong passion for fire and food, our team combines technical expertise with genuine enthusiasm. Whether you’re looking to reduce energy bills, make a more sustainable choice, or simply bring warmth and character into your home, we guide you through the options with clarity and confidence. As authorised dealers for many of the UK and Europe’s leading brands, our advice is always impartial and informed.

Our Story & Heritage
The business began in 2005, almost by accident. After purchasing two stoves for a renovation project, one was sold through a small newspaper advert — and the phone never stopped ringing. Rising energy costs were driving demand, and what started in garages and hallways quickly grew into something much bigger.
By 2008, the first Cheshire showroom and warehouse opened, giving customers the chance to see and understand stoves in person. Being able to open doors, test handles and compare models side-by-side proved invaluable — something online selling alone could never replicate.
As the business grew, so did recognition from leading manufacturers. Appointments soon followed with brands including Esse, Dunsley, Charnwood and Stovax, alongside Scandinavian stove makers such as Hwam and Wiking.
Alongside retail growth, the team built a strong reputation for technical knowledge. We were among the first HETAS Approved Retailers, contributed to HETAS Technical and Installer Committees, and became founding members of the Stove Industry Alliance (SIA). This involvement has allowed us to help shape industry standards and regulations — expertise that continues to inform the advice we give today.
In 2014, the business moved to a larger showroom and warehouse within the same business park, allowing for one of the most comprehensive stove and fire displays in the North West.
Fires of Holmes Chapel today
In August 2024, long-standing sales manager Russell Clarke became the sole owner of the business. Since then, Russell and the team, including showroom manager Sam Taylor, have continued to expand and refine the offering. The refreshed showroom now includes gas and electric fires, contemporary and traditional surrounds, media walls, and outdoor cooking solutions, alongside the wood and multi-fuel stoves the business was built on.
Today, Fires of Holmes Chapel represents the full scope of what we do — a natural evolution of a trusted name, with the same people, the same expertise, and the same commitment to helping you live well with fire.
